Dispensing optician Michelle Bridges met her puppy namesake on Monday after helping to raise almost £7,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Four-month-old Labrador puppy Michelle and her guide dog pals Opal and Edward visited Specsavers in Stowmarket to show their appreciation for Michelle’s hard work.
Michelle started raising money for the charity after hearing about Stowmarket resident Graham Waspe’s guide dog Edward, a Labrador who had his eyes removed due to glaucoma in 2010.
She decided to do a charity skydive, raising more than £2,500, which was then matched by store directors and boosted by the generosity of local residents to a grand total of £6667.90.
Michelle said of the encounter: “It is a really sweet gesture to have a puppy named after me, I’m sure she will make an excellent guide dog.”
