A young Thetford wrestler is aiming for the big leagues after applying for a televised American competition.
Ashleigh Lennox, 18, put herself forward for Tough Enough, a reality show to find the sport’s next superstar.
The College of West Anglia student will be competing with wrestlers from around the world but is keeping her eyes firmly on the prize.
“WWE is my holy grail, it’s what I have always dreamed of,” said Ashleigh, who wrestles under the name Ashleigh Stark.
“When I told my school careers advisor I wanted to be a professional wrestler I expected her to laugh.
“But it just so happened her son was a wrestler and she put me in touch with him and a local club.”
The performing arts student trains for five hours every Sunday in King’s Lynn.
It was a stunt co-ordinator, who gave a master class at the college, who highlighted Ashleigh’s talent.
Kirsty Holmes, her tutor at CWA, said: “Ashleigh is a real talent and now does all our fight choreography.”
A one-minute video Ashleigh submitted with her application to support her entry has already attracted more than 19,000 views.
Successful applicants to the WWE show will compete for a one-year, $250,000 contract based in Florida.
