Thetford rapper Franko Fraize is bring featured on BBC Radio One’s playlist this week.
His latest single ‘Treasures’, which was released on November 11, will be played throughout the week by DJs including Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Greg James.
Franko said the recognition of his work couldn’t have come at a better time.
He said: “We had a little bit of Radio One interest before but things have really kicked off now.
“It’s a lovely way to start the year.
“This couldn’t have come at a better time to be honest.
“We went away, built up the brand and now we are getting some real hype around it.”
Franko said he hopes the radio play will kickstart an important year.
“We had Soccer AM use my tune for the goals of the week recently too,” he said.
“We are hoping it will just get bigger and bigger.
“Our real hope is that Zane Lowe gets hold of the single and gets behind it.”
The video for Treasures , which features Norwich singer Kamilla Lovett, was filmed in just one day.
Franko said he has a big year planned with more music releases and live shows on the way. “January has been mad already but this will be a very big year for us,” he said.
“We’re looking to get an EP out in March time with a brand new single and then roll into the summer.
“The plan is then to rinse the festivals and to perform live as much as possible.”
