A Thetford man accused of a string of offences including kidnap, blackmail and weapons-related charges has been remanded in custody.

Svjataslavs Sitnovs, 26, of St John’s Way, Thetford, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

He is accused of kidnapping a man, blackmailing him for money and, together with another, assaulting him causing actual bodily harm.

It is also alleged he was in possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and a quantity of the class A drug heroin.

These offences are all said to have taken place in Thetford between January 27 and 28.

Sitnovs is also accused of possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious gas, as well as possessing prohibited ammunition, a firearm when prohibited and ammunition for a firearm when prohibited in Thetford on February 3.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on July 11.
