Theatre Royal’s Cinderella panto inspires poster contest and anti-bullying workshops

As the Theatre Royal’s crowd-pulling pantomime Cinderella fast approaches, bosses are staging two initiatives inspired by the show – a poster competition and anti-bullying workshops.

For the contest, creative youngsters in three age groups – under eight, eight-12 and 13 plus – are urged to let their imaginations go wild to make a dazzling poster.

The winning poster, chosen from the three age groups by the Cinderella cast, will go on display at the theatre, feature in the panto programme and be seen by more than 20,000 people.

The winner’s prize includes a family ticket to the show, a programme signed by the cast, a photo taken with the cast and a professionally printed version of the winning poster provided by sponsors Premier Printers. Two runners-up will also have their entries displayed in the theatre during the show’s run.

All entries should include the artist’s name, age and contact number and be on A4 paper or card. Closing date for entries is November 3 and should be sent to Pantomime Poster Competition, Theatre Royal, Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds or taken to the Theatre Box Office.

The theatre’s education staff are offering anti-bullying workshops to schools – particularly to Key Stage 2 and 3 children – tying in with the story’s theme and National Anti-Bullying Week from November 17-21. Teachers interested in the workshop should contact Becca Gibbs on 01284 829935.
