An ‘alliance to develop the performing arts in and around Bury St Edmunds’ is to be formed between the Theatre Royal and St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
The theatre’s board of trustees decided against a management merger with the council’s Apex last month, but left the door open for collaboration including a joint box office.
It proposes a more coordinate approach to programming and the Bury Festival, as well as joint initiatives in marketing and audience development, as well as in outreach and learning activities.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council is to discuss the move at full council on Tuesday evening (26).
“The theatre’s enthusiasm for joint working is to be welcomed,” said a council report.
