Originally planned as a trilogy, the books became so intricate that she needed two final instalments in the tale about Pan of Hamgee, the unwilling hero attempting to escape the wrath of Lord Vernon in the dictatorship of K’Barth.

The books are humourous sci fi adventure set in a fantasy world and can be enjoyed by all from eight years up. Mary cites Terry Pratchett, Narnia and Tolkien works as inspirations.

Now her final two books in the series, One Man No Plan and Looking for Trouble, are out and available on Amazon, e-book sites and at Waterstones in the arc.

Following a book signing at the weekend’s Christmas Fayre Mary, a former marketing manager for a transport company, said: “Writing is an addiction for me and after having Tommy I got itchy creative fingers. I wrote the books for me, writing the book I wanted to read.”

Mary’s books are published by Hamgee University Press and through online book retailing.
