The search for next year’s West Suffolk Young Musician and Young Jazz Musician has begun - and organisers are now looking for a jazz vocalist too.

In July, talented clarinettist Liliana Luongo was crowned Young Musician of the Year with 12-year-old George Mooney winning the first ever Young Jazz Musician of the Year award.

Lois Hinsley, Chairman of the West Suffolk Young Musician Committee, said: “Due to the remarkable success of the new jazz competition we have added a Young Jazz Vocalist class, and look forward to widening our appeals to local young singers.

“We have also made a few notable changes to the geographical areas from which we will now accept applications.

“If you narrowly missed these criteria last time, you may find you are now eligible.

“I really hope that both Liliana’s and George’s high profile successes will encourage many singers and instrumentalists from around grade 3 standard up to advanced level to show their talents in this unique local competition.”

The closing date for entry applications is Monday November 30, this year.
