An international digital cinema will be coming to Thetford as part of a multi-million pound regeneration project.

The Light Cinemas will be launching a new three screen cinema at the Thetford Riverside development, led by Breckland Council.

The company, founded in Romania, will be offering a mix of mainstream and international films and special events at the Thetford site.

The riverside development, part of a waider regeneration of the town, will include shops and restaurants and a Travelodge.

Cheif executive of The Light Cinemas, Keith Pullinger, said: “We are happy to confirm our partnership with Breckland Council to bring a cinema offer to Thetford.

“Currently, people from the town need to travel a long distance to visit a cinema so we see this new development as providing a much needed entertainment facility.”

A spokesman for Breckland Council said the new cinema ‘will offer residents and vistors a fantastic, modern entertainment venue’ as part of a ‘vibrant community hub’.

The cinema is expected to open in early 2017.
