Brandon Library hosted an ‘out of this world’ Star Wars party for Suffolk’s young Jedi.

Suffolk Libraries and Friends of Brandon Library collaborated to put on an afternoon of fun for Star Wars fans aged between 5 and 11 last Wednesday.

Guests were encouraged to attend dressed as their favourite characters with Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Jedi and Resistance fighters descending on the library.

Activities included, ‘Draw your own inquisitor’, ‘Design your own planet’ and a Star Wars quiz.

Adults were served refreshments in the form of tea and coffee throughout the afternoon, while the youngsters were treated to ‘Princess Leia cakes’, ‘Grape Lightsabers’ and ‘Ham Solo sandwiches’.

The event celebrated all things Star Wars and in doing so intended to promote the library as an ideal place for fans to connect with the multiple books and films associated with the popular franchise.

Matt Sheldrick, library manager, said they hope the Star Wars party and other events like it will help promote the library as a social hub.

Suffolk Libraries are planning several more events in the coming weeks, including a quiz night and book launch featuring a local author.
