A Brandon supermarket is organising a three day food bank collection next week.
It will take place at Tesco, in London Road, from Thursday to Saturday (July 6-8), with donations to be shared between Lakenheath Food Bank and The Harvest Centre Food Bank, in Weeting.
People are welcome to bring items from home or buy food from the store to donate, but all items must have at least three months left before their sell by date.
Pasta, rice and tinned vegetables, fruit, soup and meat are among suggested items, along with long life milk, sugar, tea and coffee.
Organiser Lianne Spooner, Tesco Brandon’s community champion, said: “We will also donate a Tesco gift card to both food banks towards short life items, such as bread, milk and fresh fruit and veg to use as needed.”
She added that more than 34 cases of food were collected during a similar event held in store last year for Lakenheath Food Bank.
“Lakenheath Food Bank on Back Street were extremely grateful,” she said.
