YOUNG people have signed up to a new initiative to help make a difference in their community.

An enrolment day for the National Citizenship Service scheme was held at R-age, in Bury St Edmunds, on Wednesday and had already attracted seven participants by the afternoon.

The scheme, piloted by the charity Catch22, aims to bring 16-year-olds from different backgrounds together to work on projects in their community. April Clark, of Bury, who is taking part, said: “I want to do it because it’s going to look good on my CV for my career as I want to join the police force.”
