Teenager sentenced for part in Brandon plastics factory fire

A TEENAGER involved in starting a fire which caused £400,000 of damage at a plastics factory has been sent to a Young Offenders Institution.

Benjamin Dack, 19, formerly of Glebe Road, Weeting and now of Lynn Road, Fincham, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (July 21).

Dack tried to argue that while he was present at Chase Plastics in London Road, Brandon on February 20 last year, he had taken no part in lighting waste materials inside a trailer.

Ben Cowen, 18, who claimed Dack had threatened him with violence if he spoke about what he had seen, said Dack had taken him and another man in his car to high ground to watch the fire take hold.
