A TEENAGER suffering from Mental Health issues has appeared in court to admit microwaving a cat.
Jamie Lee Blake, 19, killed the cat after it began ‘talking’ to him, Bury St Edmunds magistrates were told.
The court, today heard how Blake of St Edmunds Court, Thetford, had been staying in sheltered housing when he started joking with other residents about how he had killed a cat.
Blake told police he liked the cat, which he named Buddy, and had taken it up to his room and fed it cheese and tuna.
But he said the cat began talking to him saying that his mums ex partner was giving her heroin and so he grabbed the cat and stuck it in the microwave, prosecutor Sarah-Jane Atkins said.
“There are underlying mental health issue here because clearly this is a young man who is not in the right frame of mind,” said Kieran Dunphy representing Blake.
Blake has been remanded in custody to be sentenced later this month once a full psychiatric report has been carried out.
