The Southgate Community Partnership in conjunction with Southgate Church and Hardwick Primary School in Bury St Edmunds held their third Community Fun Day on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday.
The popular event on the school playing field commenced with a year one five-a-side football tournament featuring six primary school teams and won by the undefeated host team with Mayor of St Edmundsbury Patrick Chung presenting the match trophy and medals.
A host of attractions at the Fun Day entertained visitors with inflatables, bungee run, rodeo bull, archery tag, climbing wall and charity stalls while Jo Brown and her Zumba classes performed their rousing work out while the Bury Starlets baton twirlers entertained.
A special guest was Dr Who enthusiast Thomas Seymour with his Tardis and Daleks and Southgate Church provided refreshments in the Church Centre and activities for children.
Partnership chairman and organiser Andy Abbott said they were again blessed with fine weather for the third year running.
“This is a special community event for the Southgate, Hardwick and Nowton communities in Bury St Edmunds and it was just great to see everyone enjoying themselves.
“The enthusiasm of the spectators and the determination and spirit of the young footballers taking part was just inspiring and they were a credit to their schools and coaches.
“This has become a special event on the calendar and we are already planning for bigger and better on may day next year.”
