A VILLAGE performing group will be taking to the boards to showcase a medley of well-known and loved numbers next weekend.

Barrow Musical Medley and Performing Arts Club was set up two years ago at Barrow Primary School and has gone from strength to strength.

On Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16, it will be putting on its annual show and this year raising funds for Rays of Sunshine, a charity which grants wishes to sick children.

Children from Barrow and other local schools including Westley Middle, Ickworth Park, Sextons Manor and Abbots Green, are taking part in this

years’ show which will feature numbers from The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music and Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang.

Last year the group raised £500 for Asthma UK. It was set up by Rachel Hall who is a partner at Sworders Estate Agency in Bury St Edmunds and now has more than 40 members aged from four upwards.

Rachel said: “ I just love doing it. The most rewarding thing is seeing youngsters come along and how their confidence grows.” Tickets for the show at Barrow Village Hall cost £3 for adults and £1 for children and can be obtained from Barrow Primary School, Barrow Post Office and Sworders Estate Agents in Bury. The performance starts at 6pm.
