Glorious sunshine and a sense of occasion made for a successful Thurston Fun Run on Sunday when nearly 300 runners put on their running shoes and raised funds for their chosen charity.
This was the sixth annual fun run and helped to swell the village’s sports fund to a grand total of more than £5,000.
The event was started by four dads who wanted to raise funds for improved sports facilties for the village and has grown in stature over the years.
This year runners of all ages and abilities tackled either the three kilometre run or the 10k event starting at New Green Community Centre.
Sponsored by Thurston Fox and Hounds the good weather brought out a crtowd of spectators and people also waved the runners on from their gardens along the way.
This year the event has raised around £2,000 before costs. Raynet helped marshall the run and Barton Church provided refreshments.
