YOUNG artists who created stunning paintings of sunflowers helped to raise £2,000 towards a sensory room at their school in Bury St Edmunds.
Pupils at Riverwalk School donated their work for auction at The Sunflower Ball staged at Haughley Park Barn and organised by WS Training based in Great Barton.
The event raised £10,000 towards the sensory room for children who have severe and profound learning disabilities.
The company has supported the school for several years and a staff committee organised the event which was attended by 110 people who donated generously.
Audrey Finch, head teacher, said: “We were overwhelmed by people’s generosity on the night and also in buying raffle tickets beforehand. The evening was absolutely magical. Everyone seemed to have such a good time and the amount raised will go a long way towards buying the sensory equipment we so badly need.”
To donate to the sensory room appeal send cheques payable to Riverwalk School at South Close, Bury St Edmunds IP33 3JZ.
