Suffolk soldier’s festive message to loved ones back home

A special Christmas message has been sent to loved ones from a Suffolk soldier currently serving in Afghanistan.

Private Robert Allen, 28, a carpenter from Long Melford, swapped his chisel and hammer for a helmet and body armour as an Army Reservist at the Main Operating Base in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province.

Currently serving in Afghanistan, Pte Robert Allen, from Bury St Edmunds, has sent a Christmas message to loved ones.

Since joining in 2011 he completed his training in Bury St Edmunds and was later deployed for a six-month tour of duty.

Pte Allen is a member of the 3 Royal Anglian Battalion (The Steelbacks) but is currently attached to 2 Royal Anglians (poachers).

Robert wishes his girlfriend Sophie and everyone back in the UK a very Merry Christmas and is looking forward to seeing her in the New Year.
