Students from across Suffolk enjoyed a night of discounts, games and live entertainment at the county’s first ever Student Shopping Fest, staged in Bury St Edmunds last Thursday.

arc shopping centre retailers, including New Look, H&M and Topshop, stayed open late and were impressed to see more than 1,000 students.

West Suffolk College provided free beauty treatments and massages in The Apex while a DJ and saxophonist played to shoppers from the venue’s balcony.

Nando’s joined in the fun in Charter Square with contestants taking part in challenges to win meal vouchers and there was even an opportunity to get ‘spotted’ on the red carpet.

Of the event’s ‘huge success’, Colin Roberts, arc centre manager, said: “There was a wonderful buzz around the centre and the evening was great for the students and retailers alike. It is definitely an event that we will look to host again next year.”
