Suffolk Circle, the social group for over 50s, will close at the end of March.
For three the circle offered social connections and services for older people. It says it had 2,000 members.
This week it announced: “In the current financial climate it has not been possible to continue our services or develop new ones. Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to cease trading. However, we have worked hard to ensure our members can continue to access a range of services by linking with Age UK Suffolk.
“We have been overwhelmed by messages of support and well wishes from our members.”
Damien Ribbans, circle general manager, said: “We have been meeting with our members face to face and whilst people are obviously disappointed that Suffolk Circle cannot continue, they are pleased that so much work has been done with our friends at Age UK Suffolk to continue the legacy.”
Martyn Green, Age UK Suffolk’s chief executive, said: “We will be working closely with members to ensure that we listen to them in order for us to develop a programme of activities and support they want and need.”
