Zoe Hollocks missed the first public showing of a film she had worked on at university because it was in Chicago.

Zoe, from Appledown Drive, Moreton Hall, was first assistant director on the 15-minute short Tailypo, made by third-year film and television production students at York St John’s University.

Directed by Kerry Leeds and starring Daniel Smyth, the film was shown at the Chicago Film Festival, alongside internationally renown films starring box office greats.

Zoe said: “We did get invites, but none of us could afford to get over there.

“We’d put the trailer on Facebook and someone from the film festival asked if they could see the film.”

Zoe was responsible for the filming schedule and in charge on set, The film, a horror thriller based on an American folk tail, had a cast and crew of about 50.

The whole film cannot be shown online because they want it to appear at other festivals.

Zoe is starting her own film production company in Bury, Purple Gecko Films, doing weddings, birthdays and promotional films.
