A music trust in Stowmarket has celebrated the creation of its 50th instrument in a seven-year series of workshops.

The East Anglian Traditional Music Trust has run week-long workshop courses for aficionados to make their own melodeons, a type of button accordian used in the region for the past century.

Last month saw the creation of the 50th melodeon under the expert tutoring of master French craftsman Emmanuel Pariselle.

This year’s course at Stowmarket Middle School is the fifth of its kind provided by the EATMT, with each helping ten musicians from across the country to make their own instrument while teaching them about traditional techinques and materials used in their construction.
