FOUR generations of a family gathered at the Atheneum, in Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday to reminisce about where it all began.
Martin, 60, and 59-year-old Gabrielle Smith, from Hopton, first met at a Saturday night dance held there in June, 1967, and the rest - as they say - is history.
A year later they were married and then they started their family.
They came back to the spot at the Athenuem where they first met for a family photo, joined by their daughter Michelle Auckland, 42, their two grandchildren 20-year-old Emma Bush and Daniel Bush, 16, and their great-grandchild, seven-month-old Joshua Claxton - Emma’s son.
Gabrielle, 59, said: “We have had a long while together and it’s nice to reminisce.
“We both turn 60 this year and are celebrating in whatever way we can.
“One of the ways was to get the family to see where it all began.”
But sadly their other daughter Jo, 39, and her family could not join them as they now live in Australia.
The Smiths decided to head back to the special spot to mark their 60th birthdays and to welcome baby Joshua, their great-grandchild, into the family.
