Fourteen Elveden Estate staff have put their bodies on the line to raise money and awareness of a rare genetic disease.
Kitchen and restaurant staff ran 10,000 metres each last Friday for the CATS foundation, which works to provide support for families affected by Tay Sachs Disease.
Steve Pillinger, restaurant manager, said he and Richard Howard, Food Shop Manager, were inspired to do the challenge by the family of four-year-old Isabella Alford, from Thetford, who suffers with the disease.
“We’ve got to know the family really well and it’s terrible that people don’t know more about Tay Sachs and the effect that it has,” he said.
Tay Sachs is a genetic disorder which sees sufferer’s physical and mental faculties deteriorate rapidly after diagnosis.
