A surprise donation from an American church has helped progress work on restoring a 17th century pulpit and reading desk at Troston’s medieval church of St Mary’s.

A donation of £330 was received from St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Seattle through the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust.

Craftsman Joe Dawes was this week due to begin the restoration work costing £2,000. Donations were also received from the Norman Scarfe charity AllChurches and the Francis Coales Trust.
