A sponsored bench press session by gym members has given a big boost to a fund which aims to pay for life-changing surgery for a Red Lodge boy.
Oscar Parkinson, 4, was born with spastic diplegia, a type of cerebral palsy , which affects his ability to walk.
His parents believe that their son’s best chance of overcoming the condition is for him to travel to the USA where surgeons can perform surgery not available in the UK.
But the special SDR operation and the physiotherapy afterwards costs around £70,000 and needs to be carried out by early next year to achieve the best possible outcome.
Members at Newmarket’s Perfect U gym, led by personal trainer Paul Turner, raised £5,000 for Oscar’s fund with the bench press at Newmarket Tesco.
