A jazz club which celebrates 20 years on February 1 will be marking its anniversary with iconic saxophonist Gilad Atzmon.
Gilad will lead the Orient House Ensemble at the anniversay party at Stoke by Nayland Hotel with some exciting and dynamic sounds from Gilad, Frank Harrison, piano, Yaron Stavi, bass and Eddie Hicks,drums.
Founded and playing for many years at The Fleece in Boxford the club eventually moved to the Stoke by Nayland Hotel and has featured musicians from Loondon, the East of England and South East as well as visitors from Europse and further afield.
Jazz nights at The Fleece also championed burgeoning stars including Jamie Cullum, Claire Martin, Tina May and Jacqui Dankworth.
The club still has three founding members and a loyal band of supporters.
Bands lined up between now and the birthday bash including Martin Speake, sax, with Mike Outram, guitar and Jeff Williams, drums, playing January 11. This gig will feature Arabic influenced music, free improvisation, standards and ballards.
January 18 sees John Law, piano with Yuri Golubev, bass and Asaf Sirk, drums while on January 25 there’s music from the Renato D’Aiello Quartet.
