SOLDIERS already serving in Afghanistan and those preparing to go into action have been presented with 500 Gideon New Testaments.

The bibles which were presented at the Royal Anglian headquarters in Out Risbygate on Tuesday are inscribed with the regimental insignia and are covered in camouflage colours.

The bibles also contain the battalion’s own prayer and the message from King George V1 who placed his personal message to troops in bibles that were given out in 1939.

Mac Lambourne, chairman of the Suffolk West branch of Gideons International, presented the bibles to the Royal Anglian chaplain Captain Nick Todd.
