IT MAY not have been the biggest flashmob, but one group of people in Bury St Edmunds took to the streets to get their message across this week.

Suffolk Circle staged a flashmob ‘No More Socks’ protest in the town on Wednesday in a bid to raise awareness about their aims and highlight how Christmas giving could be more worthwhile.

Carrying posters saying ‘No More Socks’, and ‘More Late Night’s the 10-month old organisation urged people to donate unwanted gifts to those in need and give more useful seasonal gifts.

Formed in February, Suffolk Circle has a membership of 293 whose ages range from 49 to 93 and is a social enterprise organisation which enables members to meet others with similar interests, share skills and reconnect with their communities.

Unwanted Christmas gifts were donated to Gatehouse Caring in West Suffolk which supports needy families and individuals.
