Slimmers across Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Stowmarket have given their loose clothes a new lease of life after donating hundreds of items worth £15,120 to charity.

After shedding the pounds, 24 local Slimming World groups donated 378 bags of clothing to Cancer Research UK in the last two weeks as part of a national campaign by the organisation.

Tina Matthews, Slimming World consultant for Stanton, said: “It’s incredible - it surpassed what we were aiming for so we’ve done really well. Nationally it’s going to be phenomenal. So often our members keep those bigger clothes and actually don’t need to because with Slimming World it (the weight) is off and it’s staying off because it’s a lifestyle change.”
