A £50,000 revamp of a skate park has been officially unveiled.

The Bury St Edmunds Skate Park, in Olding Road, features a new track, lighting system, bins and benches following the investment.

The Bury Skatepark Experience, a group made up of mainly young people, secured the money following a bid to the Big Lottery Fund Changing Spaces programme.

Secretary and former chairman Ben Gray said: “It’s great to see something we’ve worked hard on finally be achieved.

“There’s so many young people in our area who need something like this.”

The parents of Sam Harber, who died in an avalanche in the French Alps in 2005, decided to make a contribution towards a concrete ledge in the park from a charity account, which contains money left by Mr Harber and raised by his friends.
