Claire, of Moreton Hall, said: “Running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London was an amazing experience. The atmosphere is incredible and spectators and other runners are so encouraging from start to finish.”

She added: “PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) caused the death of two of our grandparents this year so is a charity that is very close to our hearts.”

Sarah, from Thurston, said: “We had a fantastic day, even though we were very nervous and unsure if we would achieve the result we wanted.”

She added: “Things I will always remember from the day are Geoff, Claire’s fiancé, coming to find us 800 metres from the end to give us an energy drink, seeing our parents’ faces 200 metres from the end of the race and the massive hug Claire and I had when we crossed the line.”
