AN ANNUAL car show has revved up hundreds of pounds for three charities.

The fourth annual Cars on the Green event at Thurston amassed £531.73 for Help for Heroes as well as £470.40 each for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Thurston New Green Trust.

Nearly 1,000 people flocked to the show, which featured about 500 classic and modern cars at the New Green Centre.

Trophies, sponsored by local businesses, were dished out for the best vehicles.

The event was organised by Bury Retro Ford Car Club.

Secretary Charlie Ruddock said: “It was one of the best years and we’re so pleased how the show has suddenly grown.”
