Shoppers may have been taken by surprise when three lifelike gorillas strolled through the arc shopping centre on Monday.
The mountain gorillas were part of the Noah’s Arc event at the Bury St Edmunds shopping centre which is being staged every Monday throughout the summer holidays.
The gorillas and their explorer friend also visited Waterstones and took part in Gorilla storytime where children enjoyed a 10 minute story written by Anthony Browne.
During the day children were able to learn about the lifestyle and habbits of gorillas and enjoy a huge hug from their hairy friends.
Shoppers were also given the chance to win a £50 shopping spree.
People were invited to pop their head through a hole depicting one of Noah’s animals and to share their photo on the centre’s Facebook page.
Colin Roberts, centre manager, said: “Gorillas in the Midst are a fantastic group of entertainers and educators. They have performed all over the UK and we are excited to have them. They are incredibly realistic.”
On Monday it is the turn of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
