The Diss Corn Hall will be hosting an encore screening of Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach.
As part of Benjamin Britten’s centenary, the viscerally beautiful Peter Grimes came home to the very beach that inspired it, in a landmark open-air staging by Aldeburgh Music.
This encore screening of the extraordinary live performance on Aldeburgh Beach last June demonstrates why Britten’s masterpiece has captured audience’s imaginations worldwide ever since its premiere in 1945.
Is fisherman Grimes responsible for the death of his young apprentice?
The local community has branded him a murderer and hunted him down but is he mad, evil, or a misunderstood visionary?
Directed by Tim Albery and conducted by Steuart Bedford, the performance features Alan Oke as Peter Grimes, Giselle Allen as Ellen Orford and the Britten Pears Orchestra.
It will show at 7pm on January 25 at the Diss Corn Hall on Market Hill.
Tickets cost £11.50 for friend concessions, £12.50 DCH friends, £13 for concessions and £14 for a standard.
