Pupils at Glade Primary School have won the first Brandon Scarecrow Trail after their design of Usain Bolt was voted the public’s favourite.

The school also came third with a Shrek scarecrow and other entries included Incy Wincy Spider, Super Mario, Erik the Viking, a Roman Soldier and the Hulk.

It has received an engraved trophy and the scarecrows have gone on display at the school.

Headteacher Andy Smith said: “The children had a great time designing and making the scarecrows and we’re all thriled that Glade did so well.

“It shouldn’t have been a surprise that our Usain Bolt scarecrow came first though. He always does.”
