GENEROUS businesses in Bury St Edmunds and customers and friends of a Chinese restaurant have raised £1,250 for a local primary school.
Patrick Chung ,who ran The Canton Chinese Restaurant in Hatter Street held a grand raffle during Chinese New Year celebrations and has donated the money raised to Howard Primary School.
The money will go towards improving the pupils’ outdoor learning area and the school council will be heavily involved in its design. The money will be added to funds from the Friends of Howard Primary School to create the new outdoor space.
Headteacher Bernadette Higgins said they were very grateful for the donation.
Mr Chung said: “I am very happy about the support by the people, customers and friend. We are also grateful to all the businesses who donated prizes. They were very supportive.”
