Youngsters at Hardwick Primary School in Bury St Edmunds have been busy collecting shoeboxes of items for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ the Samaritan’s Purse charity appeal.

Headteacher Daryl Jones said: “The children have collected 71 shoeboxes for the appeal. Each shoebox contains gifts appropriate for either a boy or a girl aged between two to four, five to nine or 10-14.

“Items include teddy bears, art materials, sweets, toys and practical items such as a tooth brush and toothpaste.

“The children have been really excited about the appeal and were keen to get involved.

They are really pleased that they have been given the opportunity to give a gift to a child this Christmas, who otherwise may not have received anything.”

Operation Christmas Child sends the boxes of gifts to underpriviledged children around the World.
