A STRUGGLING primary school that has been ‘reborn’ after a £3.2 million investment has celebrated its grand opening.

The ribbon was cut on The Bishops Church of England VA Primary School last Friday.

Guests, including Richard Howitt MEP, were on hand to the work done, including a new reception area and entrance hall.

Mr Howitt cut the ribbon and said: “It is an honour to be invited to declare the new school officially open and to mark the rebirth of a school that has often struggled in the past to serve the community of the Abbey Estate.

“The whole community here has benefited from the success of the school, with parents, carers and support groups working hard to build upon the achievements.”

Capital for the scheme was raised through the Labour government’s Primary Capital Programme, with added funds from the school and Norwich Diocese.

Additional ICT resources have also been added as part of the project.
