A VILLAGE primary school threw open its doors to the community to celebrate 25 years at its current site.
Mendlesham Community Primary, in Old Station Road, marked the landmark event by inviting members of the community, including former pupils and teachers, to look at old photographs, articles and books. There was also a 1980s themed assembly led by pupils, which included singing and a ‘robot dance’.
The school moved from its former site, now known as the St Joseph’s Centre, also in Old Station Road, 25 years ago. A school had been on the old site since 1863 when it opened as a new national school.
Head Claire Jones said: “It was really successful. We had lots of people in looking at the photos and talking about their time at school.”
During the event, children also enjoyed a piece of birthday cake.
