A FORMER Thetford student has booked herself a royal appointment after passing a gruelling challenge.
Sarah Douglass, from Methwold, will be presented her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award by the Earl of Wessex at St James’ Palace on October 26.
Sarah began the award while studying at Thetford Grammar School, completing challenges including an expedition in the Yorkshire Moors and taking singing lessons.
She said: “The expeditions were gruelling in terms of the physical demands but they were one of the best things that I have ever done.”
Sarah carried out the challenges while studying music at the University of York and during a subsequent teacher training course at the UEA in Norwich. She has now taken up a role as a teacher.
