A BEAUTY salon was thrown into disarray after thieves stole thousands of pounds in stock and equipment.
Amanda Jane’s, in Bury St Edmunds, was left more than £10,000 short when all of its retail stock was stolen during the break-in earlier this week.
Thieves also snatched a computer containing a diary and database – throwing the St Andrew’s Street North salon into an organisational ‘nightmare’.
Owner Amanda Baker said: “We’ve now no idea what we’re doing for the next six months or so with bookings.
“It’s an absolute nightmare and it is very difficult for us to make a booking as we don’t know if one has already been made for that particular time. We don’t know what gaps we’ve got.
“We’re a very busy salon. On Tuesday our diary was full but we couldn’t make contact with the clients as we don’t know where or who they are.
“We would like people to contact us to let us know what they have booked so we can piece together our diary again.”
The business was targeted between 7pm on Monday and 8.40am on Tuesday.
Stock stolen included skin care, tanning, nail and tea tree oil products as well as make-up. Staff planned to continue ‘as best they could’ this week.
Mrs Baker added: “We will be open as normal as possible. We can’t just stop working – we have to keep going.
“We’ve got products for our treatments and services – that isn’t a problem. All that’s gone is our retail stock and that can be replaced.
“The biggest problem is our diary.”
“Whoever did it made a bit of a mess but luckily there was no damage as such. My staff were very upset though.”
The business, which offers beauty therapy, laser treatments as well as facials, manicures and pedicures, has been based in Bury since 1991.
Anyone with information can contact Suffolk Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
