A WOMAN who battled against an aggressive form of skin cancer has raised nearly £500 for a supportive charity.
Sally Paterson, 44, from Weeting, put on a day of fund-raising for the West Suffolk Cancer Support Group last Saturday at Weeting Bowls Club.
The raffles, cake stalls and collections managed to pull in £338 for the charity – in addition to the £144 that Sally had already handed over.
Sally said: “The day went really well and even though the weather was drizzly for most of the day I was more than impressed with the turnout.”
Sally said her diagnosis came as ‘a hell of a shock’ and that the support from weekly group meetings helped her through the plastic surgery she had to endure as part of her recovery.
Now in remission, Sally is set to return to work and owes much of her improvement to the group.
“They gave me so much support – without them I wouldn’t be going back to work,” she said.
The money raised will go towards paying for the group’s recreational activities.
