A West Suffolk heart charity is £4,566 better off thanks to Sainsbury’s staff and customers.

The West Suffolk Upbeat Heart Support Group was the Bury St Edmunds store’s adopted charity for two years and its chairman Jill Brooks last week collected a cheque from the store’s staff.

As well as collecting buckets by the tills, they held charity bingo nights, raffles and quiz nights for staff, friends and families.

Upbeat also visited the store to make collections and explain what it does, and gained several new members.

Upbeat provides support for people with heart problems and their carers and runs exercise sessions, overseen by cardiac advisers are held weekly at Bury and Sudbury on Tuesday. Visit www.upbeatheartsupport.org.uk

All Sainsburys’ stores are now inviting customers to nominate new charities. Look for forms in store.
