A long serving principal in Mildenhall has marked her retirement by presenting an extra special painting to her school.
The montage painting, which was created by local artist Heath Rosselli, was presented to St Mary’s Church of England Academy by Wendy Garrard as a surprise parting gift on Monday morning as she stepped down from the role she has held for 19 years.
Mrs Garrard said: “The painting was commissioned in light of the fact that I am leaving.
“I met Heath 2 or 3 months ago and said that I would like a montage created for the school.
“I am delighted with the painting as it captures the life and ethos of the school extremely well.”
Renowned portrait painter, Heath Rosselli, took inspiration from both old and new photographs of the school to create the montage entitled ‘A Moment in Time at St Mary’s’.
The painting also includes more than 65 of the children who attend the primary school.
It will now take pride of place in the school’s welcome lobby.
