Residents in Horringer are raising a glass in celebration after finding out their beloved Beehive pub has new owners.

Villagers have fought a two-year campaign to save the pub, seeing off two planning applications to turn the building into a house.

The community were preparing to chip in and buy shares in the pub building to secure its future.

But campaigners then received some surprising news - that the Beehive now has new owners with local connections.

Peter Crofts, Chairman of the Friends of the Beehive, said: “We are absolutely delighted because although we had a campaign to buy it, the real objective was to see the Beehive remain as a pub.

“We are very pleased and wish the new owners every success. We are really looking forward to the pub reopening, it will be a great source of great celebration in the village.
We just feel a long and difficult campaign has paid off.

“This just shows you should never give up hope.”
