THERE were bonnets, bikers and bunnies at a special charity day at a residential home on Sunday.

Laburnum Grove Housing-with-Care Scheme and Day Centre, in Thetford, welcomed members of the Thetford and District Motorcycle Club for a day of fun and fund-raising.

Pauline Quadling, Mayor of Thetford, was also on hand to dish out prizes for the best Easter bonnet and the biker who had travelled the furthest.

Money raised on the day was given to the East Anglian Air Ambulance, with Hannah Clay representing the emergency services charity on the day.

Following the prize giving and a talk from Ms Clay, residents were treated to the main thrill of the day – a ride on one of the bikes.

Derek Hope, volunteer at Laburnum Grove, said this was the highlight of the day.

“You could tell from the smiling faces just how enjoyable this treat is to residents,” he said.

The whizz round the car park was followed by an Easter Egg Hunt indoors and a sing-a-long play written especially for the day.

The day ended with a traditional Sunday lunch, an Easter raffle draw and a tea buffet.

Home-made scones and sausage rolls were served throughout the day.
