The dining area was decorated with hearts and flowers and diners were greeted with a glass of champagne on arrival.

Tables were decorated with candles and petals and long stemmed roses were given to loved ones.

There was also the opportunity for some residents to enjoy a dance.

For many it was the first time in years that they had enjoyed a romantic dinner with their loved ones.

Susan Tamlyn, one of the guests, joined husband Bob and thanked the staff for their efforts while John and Ann Bone took to the dance floor.

Jackie Tayler, deputy manager, said: “People thought this was one of the best ideas we have had.”
