Relief road bridge wins merit award

A STOWMARKET relief road project has been commended with a merit award.

The B1115 road, called Navigation Approach, was awarded with a merit in technical excellence and innovation at the annual Institution of Civil Engineers Merit Awards, held on July 1.

The Stowmarket project was acknowledged for its use of local materials and the technique used to engrave murals on the bridge.

Designed by Mouchel and constructed by Birse for Suffolk County Council, the relief road was built to link the Cedars Park estate with the town and to ease traffic on the B1115 and reduce delays at the level crossing.
